2014 Commencement Ceremony 

Pacific Oaks College extends heartfelt congratulations to its graduates on their accomplishments and commends the families and friends who have helped them reach this milestone of academic achievements.  


Date, Time, and Location:

Pacific Oaks’ 2014 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 3rd at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, promptly at 11:00 a.m.  Information about the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and parking can be found at: http://www.thepasadenacivic.com/.  

Pacific Oaks College commencement ceremony is a special event for all involved.  Please show respect for everyone who has come to share the experience.  Individuals who engage in inappropriate or disruptive behavior will be removed from the event.

As a courtesy to those around you and to our graduating students, please turn off cellular phones and all other electronic equipment during the ceremony.  Balloons, sound makers and confetti will not be allowed in the auditorium.

Due to fire code regulations, stroller/carriages are not allowed in the auditorium.  

Tickets:

Tickets are required for guest admission.  Please check with your graduate for ticket availability.   A maximum of 6 tickets will be issued to each graduate.

Graduate/Student RSVP: RSVP for Commencement is now closed

Graduates must RSVP to participate in Commencement ceremony. Please download the form, complete and save, and send as an attachment to POCcommencement@pacificoaks.edu. Graduates participating in Commencement ceremonies must wear Commencement regalia.  RSVP is due on March 27, 2014 for your name to appear in the commencement program.

Tips for downloading and saving the form: 

  • Do NOT use the application “Preview” on a Mac to fill out the form. This will corrupt the form.
  • Make sure to save the form to your desktop BEFORE you start to fill it.
  • Make sure you are using the version that you saved to your desktop when you fill it out.
  • Be sure to save again before sending. To be sure it saved correctly, open and close again before attaching it to an email to check if the text is showing up. 

Graduate Sponsor Recognition:

Pacific Oaks College allows graduates to recognize individuals who may be family, faculty, staff, or friends to thank them for their support during their academic journey.  Graduates may submit their sponsor recognition on the RSVP form above.  Sponsor recognition will appear in the commencement program.

Graduate Check-In:

All graduates are required to arrive 2 hours before the ceremony begins (No later than 9 a.m.).  Refreshments will be provided.

Student Media Release Form:

Photos will be taken of the commencement ceremony.  Please sign and return the Media Release Form by March 27, 2014.  Media Release Form is required of all graduates participating in commencement.

Order Cap and Gown:

Jostens is the only company authorized by Pacific Oaks College to provide official Pacific Oaks graduation cap and gown. Deadline to order cap and gown is March 27, 2017 to ensure delivery before commencement date and to avoid late order fee.

Announcements:

Graduates may wish to send printed announcements to friends an family to announce their achievement.  Personalized Pacific Oaks announcements are available for purchase from Jostens.  Tickets are required for guest admission to the commencement ceremony. Seats are limited.

Duration of Commencement Ceremony:

The commencement ceremony is expected to last two hours.

Seating:

Guests should arrive no later than 10 a.m.  The commencement ceremony will begin promptly at 11 a.m.  Guests will not be allowed in the lobby of the Civic Auditorium during the processional of graduates, faculty and platform party. Please advise guests to arrive and be seated prior to 11 a.m., the doors will remain closed until the end of processional. Only seating in the balcony will remain when the doors reopen.  Please note that the balcony is not handicap accessible.

Diplomas:

Diplomas will not be distributed at the ceremony.  Commencement participants will receive diploma covers and a note of congratulation. Graduates will receive their diploma after final grades have been submitted and an audit of their record is conducted to confirm all degree and programs have been met.  Graduates will be notified of their degree conferral through their Pacific Oaks College email account. Shortly thereafter, graduates will be mailed their diploma.

Commencement Photography Order:

The official commencement photographer is Paul Switzer Photography. Photos will be taken of graduates when they received their diploma cover.  Paul Switzer Photography website is http://www.switzer-photo.com.  For questions, please call (818) 545-7172.

Graduates may order commencement photos by completing the photo order form.  Photography payments (check or credit card) are made to Paul Switzer Photography and are due on the day of the commencement ceremony.  Pacific Oaks College is not responsible for ordering photos.

Pacific Oaks College Spirit Store:

Pacific Oaks apparel and merchandise can be purchased at the online Spirit Store.  Choose from a variety of items including apparel, bags and totes, hats, and much more.

Requirements to Participate in Commencement

Students who complete all program requirements at the end of the Fall 2013, Spring 2014 and Summer 2014 semesters are eligible to participate if they have submitted the Petition for Degree Completion form before March 7, 2014.  The form can be accessed here. The deadline to submit the intent form without a late fee was February 14, 2014.
