We believe that every individual has a fundamental worth and that they bring a unique set of experiences to Pacific Oaks that makes their views important. That's why we created the Admission By Life/Work Experience (ABLE) option, to allow people to document for credit their professional experiences in human services work.
Undergraduate Option | Graduate Option
Advantages of the Undergraduate Option
- You will have the B.A. degree as soon as you complete your course work. The M.A. requires completion of a Master's Thesis project which can take an extended amount of time.
- If you are seeking a Teaching Credential, the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CCTC) requires that you have an earned B.A. degree or higher.
- More financial aid is available to B.A. students than to M.A. students, and more of it is direct aid as opposed to loans.
- The B.A Option requires fewer total units than the M.A. Option and is less expensive to complete.
For more information, please see Undergraduate ABLE Option.

Advantages of the Graduate ABLE Option
- If the M.A. is clearly your goal, you will save both time and money in the Graduate option. Bypassing the B.A. will allow you to eliminate at least one full year of undergraduate study and go directly into graduate work.
- Some employers pay more as soon as you complete your M.A.
- Pacific Oaks students admitted through the M.A. option are eligible for the Child Development Program Director Permit (B.A required) on the basis of a letter from the Registrar.
