Book Fair 2005

Last year the Book Fair was held during the Fall Festival on October 23rd.

This year the book sale will again be located on the front porch of California House (in La Tierra yard) with extended hours this year, from 10 am to 4 pm.  We will continue to focus on selecting high quality children's literature in keeping with the Pacific Oaks educational philosophy.  A wide selection of books dealing with anti-bias and peaceful conflict resolution, community and environmental issues and learning through play will emphasized, and lots of books that are just plain fun!!!  We will also have parent education tools, teacher materials, and a wonderful selection of hand puppets for dramatic play. 

In addition to buying books for home, families will have the opportunity to build the library of their child’s yard and the school library.  Families may select books from the lists prepared by their teachers and buy them for the yard.  We will provide bookplates to place in the books to acknowledge these gifts and will deliver the books to the correct yard.

We are currently working on building teacher booklists and ordering  through Once Upon a Time bookstore in Montrose.  We are very happy to be able to work with Maureen Palacios and her wonderful staff again this year!  Maureen has agreed to remit 20% of book fair sales to Pacific Oaks Parent Association so your purchases help the school.

On the day of the fair, you may shop early and leave your purchases at the book fair for safekeeping while you enjoy the festival and pick them up on your way out.  Or make the book fair the capstone of your day and shop on the way out.  Books may also be ordered ahead of time by contacting Maureen at the bookstore and picked up COD at the fair. After the fair you may shop at the store during the month of November and 10% of the sales will go back to the Parent Association. Please consider books when doing your holiday and birthday present shopping!
