Finding Books

There are different means to search for books through Pacific Oaks Library, depending on what subject you need, and how quickly you need it:

1. Use our Library Catalog (webOPAC) to find books, theses, and videos that we have in our collection. Search by Title, Author, Subject or Keyword.  This search will NOT find articles in journals, nor will it find books not owned by PO.  It is possible to limit your search by type of material, e.g. just theses, or just videos

Once you locate an item, if it is out on loan, you can place a hold for it.  For details, click here.

2. Use WorldCAT (OCLC) to search the combined catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide.   Books owned by PO will also show up, marked by PACIFIC OAKS COL in green text.

3. Electronic books are available online full text from four sources:
Ebrary (SCELC) offers 30,000+ online books available after downloading a free reader software program.
NetLibrary has about 1200 titles available after setting up an account which can be done at the library.
PsycBOOKS (EBSCO HOST) has 1,000+ books published by the American Psychological Association.
WorldCAT (OCLC) offers access to some full text books on the Internet.

4. Students at Pacific Oaks may also check out materials from institutions belonging to the Inland Empire Academic Library Consortium.  A membership card is required and may be obtained from library staff at our circulation desk.
