Barnraising
Barnraising Guidelines
Parent volunteers help maintain our beautiful campus, build new equipment, refurbish our classrooms and play yards and/or make a financial contribution to assist with facility improvements. Each classroom/yard participates in barnraising activities once a year. Please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a successful barnraising event.
- Select a parent volunteer to coordinate barnraising activities/projects in your child’s classroom.
- Check with your child’s Master Teacher for a list of barnraising projects. If your classroom is shared by two different teaching teams, both the morning and afternoon teachers must agree upon the recommended projects.
- Check with the Director of the Children’s School for final approval before beginning barnraising projects.
- To ensure a consistent look throughout our historic campus, two basic paint colors have been approved for the painting of all outdoor buildings and/or equipment. The approved colors are: Bittersweet Chocolate by Benjamin Moore # 2114-10 and Trellised Ivy by Behr Premium Plus # PPF-54.
- Please do not strip paint from donated furniture or play equipment since it might contain lead.
- For classrooms/yards which accommodate both a morning and afternoon program, parents may choose to complete barnraising projects together or divide the list among both programs.
- Please make sure that young children are not within close proximity to potentially dangerous tools.
- Each yard receives a barnraising budget from the Parent Association. Please do not exceed your assigned budget.
