Admissions Options:
Traditional Admissions
To qualify for admission, an earned B.A. degree from a regionally accredited college or university is needed.  In addition, applicants must be able to critically analyze literature and situations at a graduate level, and possess strong oral and written expression skills. Consideration will be given to the potential to succeed in an experiential academic program.

Admission by Life/Work Experience (ABLE)
The ABLE option (Admission by Life/Work Experience) at the M.A. level offers students an opportunity to document competence equivalent to a BA degree from Pacific Oaks to begin graduate studies.  To qualify for the M.A. ABLE admissions option you must have at least 60 semester units, be at least 35 years of age, and have 5 or more years of work experience in a leadership capacity in human services or a related field.  See Transfer Requirements  and the ABLE option for more information.

Admission By Foreign Baccalaureate
Some Baccalaureates earned in other countries are not considered equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor's degree. Pacific Oaks offers an admission option to help those students who received only three years of undergraduate credit. We will evaluate student's courses to determine what is needed to complete our general education requirements. Once those are met and the student has a total of 120 semester credits, she/he can begin taking courses in our graduate programs in Human Development or Marriage and Family Therapy.

Graduate Admission For Pacific Oaks B.A. Students
Pacific Oaks B.A. students applying for a Pacific Oaks Master's degree must have completed their B.A. degree or be fully admitted to the B.A. degree program, have applied for graduation through the Registrar and be enrolled in their final semester.
