Technology Requirements
Computer: You may use any computer with access to the Internet for online classes. Because the course is stored on a website, you can use different computers from different locations as convenient (for example from both work and home, or public libraries and internet cafes while traveling).
Microsoft Word: You need Microsoft Word (not Microsoft Works) installed on your computer to read the orientation and class materials.
PC Users: PC users may use any system supporting Internet Explorer 6.0 or Netscape 4.7. The Izio system does not support Netscape 7.
Mac Users: Mac users must use OS9 and Netscape 4.7x. The Izio system does not support Internet Explorer for Macs. If you have a newer Mac (OSX), we can help you download an archived copy of Netscape and configure your system to revert to OS9 as necessary.
Internet Access: You will need an e-mail account for administrative communication and Internet access for participating in class. To avoid any surprise bills, make sure you have unlimited access with your Internet Service Provider and your modem connects to a local number or one that is toll-free if possible.
High-speed cable or DSL connections are recommended, especially if you enroll in more than one online class per term. Online learners can include computer equipment and connection charges in financial aide requests.
Dial-up AOL users may need special assistance. If you must use AOL, use version 8.0.
