Biography
CAROLYN H. DENHAM, PH.D. PRESIDENT
Carolyn Denham became the seventh president of Pacific Oaks in July 1998.
Prior to joining Pacific Oaks, President Denham was Director of the National Center for Schools and Communities at Fordham University. In inner-city communities across the country, the National Center established community schools, open for extended hours to provide educational and social services to students and families. She has also served as Associate Vice President for Academic Programs at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and as Associate Dean, Acting Dean, and Professor of Statistics and Research in Education at California State University, Long Beach.
President Denham is a trustee of Polytechnic School in Pasadena and of Claremont Graduate University, where she is vice chair of the board and chair of the academic affairs committee. She served on the Advisory Committee of the First 5 LA Universal Preschool Master Plan Project for Los Angeles County. Additional boards on which President Denham has served include, in New York City, the Institute of International Education, the Children’s Aid Society, and New Visions for Public Schools, and, in Massachusetts, the Lincoln Foundation and Cushing Academy, and, in Pasadena, Westridge School.
President Denham received a Ph.D. and a M.Ed. in Research and Statistics in Education from Boston College (1971 and 1967) and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas, Austin (1966).
