Overdue Materials

Pacific Oaks Library has a liberal checkout policy; loans are for two weeks (one week for theses, videos and reserve materials) and may be renewed, provided there are no holds pending. We do not mail overdue notices or call you about materials you have borrowed except for items on hold for another user.

In the spirit of collegiality the library does not charge overdue fines for materials in Pacific Oaks' collection except for reserve materials which accrue a fine of $1.00/day.  Items borrowed from other libraries, however, are subject to substantial fines:  $5.00 for the first 1-3 days late, and $5.00 per day thereafter.  Keeping interlibrary loan materials past the due date jeopardizes our ability to share resources with other institutions, hence these fines.

Please note that even though the library does not charge fines for its own material, keeping materials past the due date may affect your ability to access the library in the future.  Failure to return materials within one week after the library has contacted you to recall them will cause your borrowing privileges to be suspended.  Library suspension means you will not be able to check out materials or request interlibrary loan books until your account is current.

Change of Address

The library patron database is separate from the one other college offices use, so if your address, phone number or email change, be sure to update your library record.  It is the student's responsibility to provide the library with current contact information.

Interlibrary Loans

• Renewals.  If you still need the material when it’s time to return it, call or come in to see if the lending library will renew the materials

• Late fee = $5 for 1-3 days, $5/day thereafter.

• Students who keep ILL material a week or more past the due date will have a hold placed on their records, which will prevent registration and other such functions.  Once this material has been returned and the late fees paid, the hold will be removed.

• When picking up ILL books, students will now be required to sign a form describing these policies, as an indication that they are aware of their responsibilities.

•  When you order an item through ILL, there is a $1 fee for the transaction. This fee is applied to your account, even if, once it arrives, you decide you no longer wish to use it.
