A message from President Cindy Carter. On May 15th we shared a beautiful and momentous event at Pacific Oaks College: our 50th commencement ceremony. One hundred forty students graduated on the lawn of our Westmoreland campus, with faculty, staff, and over 750 family members and friends in attendance to support and celebrate their achievement.

Wednesday evening’s Evangeline Burgess Lecture once again brought together a community committed to enduring values which we all hold dear, including relationship, reflection, education, and service. Betty Jones’ lecture was eagerly anticipated and well received. Her presence and stories were personally and professionally meaningful, stimulating many conversations which followed the presentation.

This lecture, an autobiographical excursion through lifespan developmental theory, is a reflection on Betty’s life as player, embedded in the context of Erik and Joan Erikson’s stages of human development. What can we learn from each other’s stories, shared in the process of theory-building — constructing schema that enable us to find order in past, present and future?

Nominations are being accepted for student government officers. The student government is an organization that serves as the official voice of the student body. Active student involvement is necessary to ensure that student needs are identified and voices heard. We encourage every student to participate in the upcoming student government elections.
