From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event had approximately 80 attendees and 33 recruiters from 21 organizations. Students and alumni benefited from professional tips and advice provided by the CARE office prior to and during the career fair, such as crafting a thoughtful introduction, perfecting an elevator pitch, and researching a prospective employer.
Recruiters reported that the resumes they collected from attendees looked promising, and they will be conducting follow-up outreach with attendees. Several employers scheduled interview appointments during the career fair.
The CARE Office received the following statement from one recruiter: “We walked away with 25 folks signing our sign-in list who are interested in working with LA’s BEST, and we have started following up with them since Monday. We had a great time at Pacific Oaks Career Fair. It was a successful and enjoyable opportunity to recruit. We are very interested in continuing our partnership with Pacific Oaks.”
The CARE Office was also contacted by a student who reported that she was offered and accepted a site coordinator position with LA’s Best.
Employers in attendance included Walt Disney’s Children’s Center, Pacific Clinics, Peace Over Violence, Child360, Bright Horizons, Foothill Family Services, Alma Family Services, Child Care Resource Center and Volunteers of America Southwest—Children’s Services Division.
The CARE Office would like to thank Pacific Oaks students and alumni for their participation in the career fair. Thank you also to the PO community and career fair volunteers for their support and assistance in making this event a success.
