Pacific Oaks College proudly welcomed Terry Ratcliff, Ed.D. as Dean of Academic Affairs. Dr. Ratcliff comes to Pacific Oaks with over thirty years of experience in the field of higher education.
Just before his arrival, Dr. Ratcliff shared with us, “I am very excited to get started! I’ll be at an institution that centers on the strength of each individual and lives the social justice mission – this is consistent with my focus. I believe that PO and I are a great match.”
Dr. Ratcliff is a strong advocate of adult learners, and it is through this shared passion that his connection to Pacific Oaks originated. His interests in this area began while working for an institution that was not equipped to deal with the needs and wants of its student body; he knew there had to be a different model, and so began his journey.
Dr. Ratcliff has held multiple leadership roles throughout his career including Dean of The School of Continuing Studies at Whitworth University, Executive Director of Adult and Extended Education at Dominican University of California, as well as Contract Manager and Director of Enrollment at the Institute for Professional Development. Throughout his diverse career, Dr. Ratcliff has stayed connected with the classroom by serving as an adjunct faculty member.
Dr. Ratcliff received his Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998, an M.Ed. in Higher and Adult Education in 1983 from Arizona State University and a B.S. in Biology from the University of Idaho in 1979. Dr. Ratcliff is married, his wife is also a college administrator. They have two daughters, one graduating high school and the other graduating college this year.
