Pacific Oaks College Online Bachelor of Social Work Program Receives Accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education

The degree program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to become culturally competent practitioners and make a meaningful impact in the field of social work.

PASADENA, Calif., Nov. 28, 2023 – Pacific Oaks College is pleased to announce that its Online Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program has achieved programmatic accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The degree program is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to become culturally competent practitioners and make a meaningful impact in the field of social work.

The Council on Social Work Education is a recognized programmatic accrediting agency that ensures social work programs across the United States adhere to rigorous academic and professional standards. Achieving this milestone signifies that Pacific Oaks’ social work degree meets all accreditation standards in key areas such as curriculum, faculty, field education, and student outcomes.

“We are proud to achieve programmatic accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education,” Pacific Oaks President Jack Paduntin said. “For a college like Pacific Oaks that serves many adult learners, online degree programs such as these provide access to busy students looking to achieve educational goals and serve their community. This is especially important during a time where we are seeing a massive shortage of social workers both nationally and in California.”

The Online BSW degree program covers a wide range of critical subjects, including social work theory, practice, policy, and ethics. Through a combination of online coursework, fieldwork and experienced faculty guidance, students gain the practical skills needed to address complex social issues and positively impact the lives of individuals and communities. The degree program prides itself on placing students in practicum settings in their own communities to develop essential competencies in applying social work theory and practical skills grounded in Pacific Oaks’ values of social justice and inclusion.

The CSWE accreditation underscores the degree program’s quality and enhances the opportunities available to graduates. Accreditation from CSWE is a widely recognized and respected credential in the field of social work, making graduates more competitive in the job market and better prepared for advanced degree programs required for licensure.
