Pacific Oaks College solidifies roots in northwest Pasadena with property purchase

The social justice-centered college further commits to impacting the economically diverse population of the city.

PASADENA, Calif. – Pacific Oaks Education Corporation (PO) announces the purchase of the campus which currently houses the College at 45 Eureka Street and 55 Eureka Street, as well as two additional buildings at 433 N. Fair Oaks Avenue and 100 W. Villa Street. Situated at the southernmost edge of Northwest Pasadena, PO’s property purchase solidifies the school’s roots within the City of Pasadena and strengthens its mission of positively impacting the local community. For over 70 years, PO has been a pioneer in anti-bias and progressive curriculum in the fields of early childhood education, human development, and marriage and family therapy.

“Establishing a permanent home in Northwest Pasadena is of great significance to Pacific Oaks and a continued step toward the achievement of our social justice mission. This commitment to our neighbors is an investment in our future, the city’s future, and the many lives we help to transform,” said Patricia A. Breen, Ph.D., President of Pacific Oaks College & Children’s School.

Located within the District 3 boundaries of Pasadena, PO resides in an area with an economically diverse population and a history within the social justice movement. The institution strives to be an anchor and a gathering place for residents and community members.

“Pacific Oaks College & Children’s School has cemented its preeminent position of developing educators in the space of early childhood education and so much more,” said John J. Kennedy, Vice Mayor of Pasadena and Councilmember for District 3. “The College’s recent purchase of its Northwest Pasadena Campus, after years of renting there, is a testament to the commitment, vision, and expertise of President Patricia Breen in building community. The trajectory of Pacific Oaks College is in one direction, up!”

The institution plans to host a Pacific Oaks Community Housewarming in fall 2017 to celebrate the legacy and the future of Pacific Oaks College & Children’s School in its new home.
