Yolanda Carlos, core faculty at Pacific Oaks, was invited to present lectures and workshops on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEAM) from March 9 to 18 in collaboration with The Zhangduan (Shanghai) Investment Corporation owner Shimin Li.
“This was a great opportunity for Pacific Oaks to partner with schools in China,” Carlos, in PO’s Education department, says. “This is leading to a fruitful partnership where we’re going to be offering the S.T.E.A.M. certificates in the Henan Province.”
The presentations helped the audience of early childhood educators understand STEAM and its value in context with the importance of creativity, innovation, investigation, development, exploration, and discovery. Principles and foundational frameworks were used to support learning STEM through the lens of the arts.
