Our current funding priorities will allow us to continue to develop programs that will help our students reach their greatest potential. Your gift to Pacific Oaks College will help us make an impact in the following greatest areas of need:
College Readiness for Non-Traditional College Students
The Learning Center is one such program at Pacific Oaks College that helps students in all modalities gain confidence through writing. Other areas of funding include building a state-of-the-art computer lab and resource center for students to improve their computer literacy.
Recruitment of military veterans
Pacific Oaks College’s School of Cultural and Family Psychology is working to actively recruit and train veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces Reservists, and family members to enter a Master’s level Marriage and Family Therapy with Trauma Studies Specialization program, which will empower them to work with other veterans and members of the Armed Forces through private practices and/or service at VA hospitals and health care facilities.
Scholarships for College and Children’s School Students
Scholarships for students at both the College and Children’s School allow us to increase access to a Pacific Oaks education and build a richly diverse educational environment. Through scholarships, students who are not able to afford private school tuition can take advantage of the personal and meaningful learning experience that is emblematic of the College and Children’s School.
Restoration and Renovation of the Children’s School
Our goal in the next year is to invigorate both the physical character and the quality of campus life at the Children’s School. Funding would include engineering, architectural drawings, planning and implementation of both structural and non-structural upgrades to create a strong foundation for the future of the School.
Pasadena Parenting Education Initiative
In support of the Pasadena Council for the Young Child, Pacific Oaks College and the Children’s School would contribute its expertise in educating parents, students and alumni who are passionate about educational equity and childhood development. Funding would include leadership development, project management, curriculum development, community outreach and teaching.
Endowed Chair for Innovation in Early Childhood Education
The person who earns an Endowed Chair for Innovation in Early Childhood Education will be responsible for developing a community cohort of educators and provide early childhood forums, training, research and professional learning opportunities.
