I'm Dr. Jamie Elizabeth DeWitt, an educator and academic leader with over 20 years of experience across K-12 and higher education. In addition to my work with Pacific Oaks, I currently serve as a Lecturer and Supervisor of Teacher Education in Secondary English at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I mentor teacher candidates, supervise student teachers, and teach in the MA/Credential program. I earned my Ed.D. from Walden University, an M.A. in Social Sciences from California State University, San Bernardino, and a B.A. in History from UC San Diego. My research centers on enhancing teacher professional development through Appreciative Inquiry and Emotional Intelligence.
Outside the university, I've held a range of leadership roles in charter and online schools, and I'm currently the Chief Academic Officer at Silicon Valley High School. My career has included work as a classroom teacher, school principal, 504 coordinator, and curriculum specialist. I'm passionate about supporting diverse learners and future educators, and I've had the privilege of presenting at conferences and serving on accreditation teams with WASC. At the heart of my work is a commitment to equity, inclusive teaching practices, and creating meaningful learning experiences for all students.
